The Norwegian Krone Exchange Rate was in the region of 0.1157 against the Pound as of 16:07 pm GMT
Both the Swedish Krona and Norwegian Krone experienced upward movement today as a result of home grown developments.
In Sweden the anticipation of Wednesday’s gathering of Riksbank policy makers triggered the Krona movement.
It is broadly expected by economists that the central bank will choose to hold the benchmark rate at its present level of 1 per cent. As a result the Krona gained on all but one of its major currency rivals, posting advances of 0.7 per cent and 0.6 per cent against the US Dollar and Euro respectively.
The Norwegian Krone meanwhile responded to data showing an unforeseen acceleration in a measure of inflation by strengthening by 0.5 per cent on its American counterpart.
According to Statistics Norway, based in Oslo, annual underlying inflation crept up from 1.1 per cent at the end of last year to 1.2 per cent in January, when adjusted for energy prices, taxes and fees.
In other European currency news the Pound posted declines this morning following the release of a disappointing gauge of employment prospects and a report detailing a larger than expected increase in job vacancies London-based Financial sector.
The Euro, on the other hand, managed to recoup some of its recent losses against one safe-haven rival, gaining by 0.8 per cent on a broadly softening Japanese Yen. The common currency continued to trade broadly lower over the course of this morning however as continued political uncertainty in Spain and Italy, combined with the ongoing affects of the ECB’s comments last Thursday; prevented the currency from posting any notable advances.
